City tour Khujand – Dushanbe

Drive to the city of Khujand (100 km). On arrival, transfer to hotel. Lunch at a local restaurant, afterwards – visit to the ancient part of Khujand: Temurmalik Fortress, visit to the “Sughd” historical and archaeological museum, tour of the “Panjshanbe” oriental bazaar. Dinner at the restaurant, overnight at the Sughd hotel.

Breakfast, then – departure towards the city of Istaravshan. Visit to the Mugteppa Fortress, Kuk Gumbaz mosque of fifteenth century, tour of the local bazaar. Next – the continuation of travel to the historical city of Penjikent. Drive through the beautiful Shahristan Pass (3378 m) (210 km, 5 hours drive). Lunch at the cafe, which is located on the scenic Shahristan Gorge. Dinner and overnight at the guest house.

After breakfast, get ready to spend an unforgettable day in Penjikent. Before noon – a visit to Sarazm – the most ancient settlement in Central Asia. Also, visit to the Historical and Ethnographic Museum of Rudaki. Excavations of the Tajik-French archaeological expedition to the site of the ancient city were given a symbolic name “Sarazm “, abbreviation for “Sari Zamin” – “Origin of the Land”. Lunch in a restaurant. After lunch, visit to the local bazaar and mosque. Dinner and overnight at the guest house.

After breakfast, departure to Dushanbe – the capital of Tajikistan. Dushanbe is the largest city and the political, cultural and economic center of the country. Passage through Anzob tunnel and the beautiful Varzob Gorge. Lunch on the way, in the cafe. Afternoon – free time. Dinner at the restaurant, overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast, city tour of Dushanbe. Dinner at a restaurant, after lunch – departure to Hissar, where the Hissar Fortress is located. It was one of the palaces of the Emir from Bukhara Emirate. This fortress is surrounded by monuments and mausoleums of XVII-XVIII centuries.
